The Partnership Filter
01 Background
Polestar had real awareness in the UK, with more than 30,000 Polestar 2s delivered. But awareness without desirability doesn’t sell premium cars. The brand was turning up at events widely, not wisely.
02 Brief
The brief was an events and partnerships strategy. The real problem was that nobody had asked whether the events were working for the brand at all.
03 Solution
Luxury is cultural. Scandinavian luxury means function, quiet and restraint; in the UK that can read as invisible. Polestar didn’t need more events. It needed rules for which cultural spaces it had permission to enter, and the discipline to say no to the rest.
We audited how luxury brands from Bottega Veneta to Porsche use live experiences, built four audience mindsets mapped to the PS3, PS4 and PS5, and created the Polestar Partnership Filter: every event or partnership must pass two of three tests. Cultural Authority, Scarcity & Control, Audience Precision.
